On Wednesday; 03/15/06 Engine 421 responded to a multi-alarm building fire on the 13000 block of Solomons Island Rd in Calvert County. E421’s crew assisted units from Calvert, St. Mary’s, Charles & Anne Arundel counties with overhaul & cleanup operations on scene. E421 was on scene for a few hours before being put available.
The fire started about 12:30 p.m. near a dock connected to Bowen’s Inn and spread to the Lighthouse Inn. Both buildings, including several apartments on the second floors, were destroyed. There was also damage to the outside of a third building. A small brush fire was also sparked due to the high winds. No injuries were reported; Damage was estimated at $5 million.
