On Friday at 2231 crews from Deale were alerted for a house on fire in the Cedarhurst section of Shady Side. E422, Tanker 42, Medic 42 and Chief 42 responded to the incident. E411 (Shady Side) arrived on the scene to find a single family home with fire coming from the second-floor window, Chief 42 arrived shortly after and assumed the Holly Avenue Command. Initial crews made a quick knock of the fire and were able to limit the damage to the original room of origin. It should be noted that the quick actions of the children at home who called 911 immediately also assisted in minimizing any further damage to the home.
